The City of Guntersville currently has an opening for Senior Center Aid. This is a part-time position. The primary duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for transportation of Senior Center patrons.
- Delivers home bound meals to clients.
- Assist in serving congregant meals to patrons.
- Assist in cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen area.
- Responsible for janitorial duties as needed.
- Empties trash and recyclables as needed.
Requirements for this position include:
- Must have a valid Alabama Driver’s License and driving record suitable for insurability.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and supplies.
- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the citizens utilizing facilities and programs; ability to be helpful, courteous and deal tactfully with the citizens of Guntersville.
- Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform light to medium manual work.

The City of Guntersville currently has an opening for a part-time (approx. 19 hrs. per week) Library Assistant. . The primary duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Provides assistance and information to library users of the Guntersville Public Library. Registers patrons for new library cards and updates patron information as needed. Assists patrons in locating materials. Checks books in and out; places holds and renews books. Assists patrons with use of computers. Empties depository. Checks condition of books and materials returned. Checks on overdue books, collects payment for late, damaged or lost books or materials. Sorts, organizes, and shelves library material. Answers phone and directs patrons to appropriate staff. Responsible for maintaining an orderly appearance of the Guntersville Public Library. Assist library staff as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic. Knowledge of modern office
practices, procedures, and equipment. Knowledge of library material categorization
within areas such as fiction, non-fiction, and reference as needed to locate materials for
patrons and correct simple errors in cataloging. Ability to follow directions, both oral and
written, from a supervisor. Ability to establish and maintain a cordial and effective
working relationship with library staff and users. Ability to work as a team member to
fulfill the Library’s Mission Statement. Ability to explain rules, policies and procedures
of the Guntersville Public Library. Ability to work evenings and Saturdays. Ability to lift
on an occasional basis a maximum of 50 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 25
pounds, to stand for at least an hour at a time, and to reach heights of 72 inches on a
High School Diploma, GED or current enrollment in high school with ability to
demonstrate the above listed knowledge, skills, and abilities.
