Senior Aid (Part Time)

Job Description:

The City of Guntersville currently has an opening for Senior Center Aid  This is a part-time position.  The primary duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  1. Responsible for transportation of Senior Center patrons.
  2. Delivers home bound meals to clients.
  3. Assist in serving congregant meals to patrons.
  4. Assist in cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen area.
  5. Responsible for janitorial duties as needed.
  6. Empties trash and recyclables as needed.

 

Requirements for this position include:

 

  1. Must have a valid Alabama Driver’s License and driving record suitable for insurability.
  2. Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  3. Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and supplies.
  4. Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with the citizens utilizing facilities and programs; ability to be helpful, courteous and deal tactfully with the citizens of Guntersville.
  6. Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform light to medium manual work.

The City of Guntersville currently has an opening for a Truck Driver/Skilled Laborer with the Public Works Department.  The primary duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  1. Responsible for street maintenance, including cleaning and patching streets; painting streets and parking spaces.
  2. Performs labor associated with street clean-up after storms or wrecks.
  3. Performs labor associated with installing drain pipes, tile, and concrete finishing.
  4. May operate light powered machines used in street repair.
  5. Performs related work as assigned or required.

 

Requirements for this position include:

           

  1. Ability to operate light power equipment.
  2. Knowledge of street and grounds maintenance.
  3. Skilled in the use of manual cleaning equipment, rakes, shovels and brooms.
  4. Knowledge of manual labor associated with public works, repair, and maintenance of municipal properties.
  5. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the operation of assigned equipment and associated manual labor tasks.
  6. Ability to follow simple oral or written instructions.
  7. Ability to establish effective relationships with the general public, performing tasks with courtesy and tact.
  8. Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform manual labor and to work in very cold and hot temperatures and work in inclement weather.
  9. Must possess a valid State of Alabama Driver’s License and have a driving record suitable for insurability. Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
