Horticulture

The Horticulture department, located at the Recreation Center, was established in 2001 by the City of Guntersville under the supervision of Wendy Walker. This department is responsible for landscape designs and installation for city projects as well as the lawn maintenance for Municipal Buildings. The Guntersville Tree Commission works in close contact with the Horticulturist and her staff on various projects. Some of theses projects include: Project Knowledge which is the tree project along the walking trail on Sunset Drive, Project Canopy which is a tree restoration project along Gunter and Blount Avenues, The Memorial Tree Project which places a tree in honor or in memory of someone on city property, and awarding the "Beautification Award" each month for residential recipient and quarterly for Non- residential.
