Public Works Recycling
The City of Guntersville Public Works Department was created in 1994. It consists of the sanitation, street and grounds maintenance departments and employs thirty-three people. The hours of operation are 6:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Office hours are 8:00-4:30. For Holiday Schedules check with the local newspaper.
The Public Works Department is located
at 2413 Taylor Street and is under the supervision
of Mike Bush, Public Works Director. For information
concerning garbage pickup or holiday schedule, you

If you need information regarding street or ground maintenance work (replacing street signs, yard waste collection or the pickup of large appliances), you may call Danny Morton at 571-7599
Sanitation
The Sanitation Department is responsible for the following solid waste collections:
Garbage
Your household garbage should be placed in ridges 32-gallon containers with lids. Liners alone cannot be used. Each household is allowed two containers. Litter from your garbage is your responsibility. Garbage will be collected each Thursdays and Fridays.
Recyclables
The items listed below must be separated from your household garbage.
Your initial supplies of ecycling Bags are available at the city Hall. You will also receive a yellow Tag that can be attached to your last bag. This tag will alert the collectors to leave a supply of bags at your residence.

Recycables are collected on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Solid Goods/Limbs and Leaves
Old appliances, furniture, carpet, excess wood, tree and brush/limbs are considered solid goods and are collected on a bi-weekly basis. These items should be placed on your own property at the alley or street curb, not on public right of way. Leaves and grass clipping may be bagged. Street Department
This department is responsible for mowing the City's Right of Ways. They also maintain the drainage ditches. To report missing street signs, report fallen trees, or potholes call Mr. Danny Morton, Supervisor at 571-7598.
